“I see all art as a kind of revenge on circumstance and that’s what this is, the lyrics present ‘I’ as the natural world and the ‘you’ as the Black hammer. The black hammer being a metaphor for blind environmental politics motivated by greed, power and fear. Donella Meadows said ‘Growth is one of the stupidest purposes ever invented by any culture. We’ve got to have an enough.’ Knowing this we can contribute to demanding and creating a sustainable economic system that respects the intrinsic value of the natural world and is radically better for humanity.” - Tobin Lush
