I wrote this in our final days of recording this album and it just made it onto the record in the nick of time. It felt like the last word, the full stop to the album. It is probably my first real go at writing a love song. I’ve never felt able to enclose my feelings in a way that suitably captures the complexities of relationship, the many layered pictures, without seeming trite. And I shy away from heavy handed sentimentality, drenched in syrup. But then this arrived, sparked by a night we spent in the backyard with the kids around the fire. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that embed such a strong memory, laden with pathos and wonder and that vast and intangible thing called love.
